Carnival Connections - Reel Bollywood

Bollywood-themed workshops for young people

The aim of this project was to promote understanding of different cultures and to provide opportunities for young people to be inspired by a range of creative arts.

In 2003, Luton Carnival Arts Development Trust set up a series of workshops related to Bollywood film production for a culturally diverse group of young people. Although the project was focussed on modern Asian culture it promoted a much broader cultural understanding through the collaboration of young people from a range of backgrounds. The workshops allowed the young people to create music, costumes and dance pieces which were subsequently performed by them at the Luton Carnival and Mela.
