A multi-media and environment project for socially excluded young people
The aims of this project were to engage a group of socially excluded young people with ther environment, building their creative skills and highlighting Great Yarmouth's rich heritage.
Over seven months in 2003 Changing Places worked with a group of ten young adults on projects connected to the heritage of Great Yarmouth. Delivered by Seachange Trust this scheme was targeted at people suffering from mental illness, learning difficulties or some form of social exclusion and effectively demonstrated the high standards of which they were capable. Participants were involved in creative workshops led by the photographer Martin Figura, research and oral history projects and visits to local heritage sites. The work was then pulled together to form a series of six interpretative panels for sites around the Borough, a gallery exhibition and the production of a CD Rom for schools and other groups to use.
