arts|generate Thurrock

Five site-specific public art installations and the development of a public arts policy.

The aims and objectives of Hide and Seek were to provide high quality arts project, encourage local creative participation and promote ‘new aspects’ of Thurrock to the press.

Hide and Seek began with a series of temporary, high impact outdoor installations and artistic events introduced in unexpected places. Five site-specific installations were commissioned from professional artists providing opportunities for local people to take part in the selection, commissioning, design and fabrication processes. Sites were chosen for their historical, cultural and environmental importance within Thurrock and most were managed in association with Commissions East. T

he concurrent development of a borough public arts policy and strategy has been designed to secure long-term improvements to the environment.
